Brush the sweet Hawaiian sauce on top and serve them with fluffy <a href=\"https:\/\/whatmollymade.com\/coconut-rice\/\">coconut rice<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We love the combination of chicken, pineapple and rice in our house (we make this <a href=\"https:\/\/whatmollymade.com\/hawaiian-chicken-with-coconut-rice\/\">one pot hawaiian chicken<\/a> monthly). It&rsquo;s sweet, savory, packed with protein, and maybe most importantly, my kids love it. If you aren&rsquo;t particular about either of those things, you can use soy sauce if you have that on hand.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Pineapple juice: <\/strong>buy the pineapple chunks in 100% juice for the kabobs and use the juice for them in the marinade.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Honey:<\/strong> this adds a little sweetness to the kabobs and the sugars in the honey helps char some of the chicken and veggies for extra flavor. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Spices: <\/strong>ground ginger and kosher salt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Garlic:<\/strong> fresh garlic adds so much depth. You can see the little pieces of garlic on the chicken when you skewer them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Chicken breast<\/strong>: cut them into 1 &ndash; 1.5 inch chunks. Do your best to cut them the same size so they cook evenly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tapioca flour:<\/strong> save this until the end to thicken the sauce for topping the kabobs. Cover and chill for at least one hour or up to 24 hours. Cover and store the other half of the marinade to make the sauce later.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Soak the skewers: <\/strong>30 minutes before cooking, place the skewers in warm water.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Assemble the kabobs<\/strong>: alternate piercing the chicken, pineapple, onion and red pepper onto the skewers. Transfer them to a plate or cooking sheet until they&rsquo;re all done.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cook<\/strong>: Bake at 425&deg;F for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through. You could also air fry at 400&deg;F for 12-15 minutes. Broil them in the oven for the last 2-3 minutes to char them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Make the sauce:<\/strong> while the kabobs are cooking, pour the reserved marinade into a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Dissolve the cornstarch in a small dish with warm water. Add it to the sauce and allow it to come to a boil again. Cook until the sauce is thicken and coats the back of a spoon. Soaking kabob skewers in water softens the wood and keeps them from burning. They will still get a little black on the ends, but that&rsquo;s ok! We like to place ours in a tall glass with warm water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pro ti<\/strong>p: soak a few extras incase they break or you have more ingredients than you thought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-to-serve-with-hawaiian-chicken-kabobs\">What to serve with Hawaiian chicken kabobs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Our favorite kabob side dish is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/whatmollymade.com\/coconut-rice\/\">coconut rice<\/a>.<\/strong> It pairs perfectly with the Hawaiian chicken. You&rsquo;ll never make rice the same again! <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Another great option is any form of <strong>pasta salad or veggie salad<\/strong>. We love thick <a href=\"https:\/\/whatmollymade.com\/caesar-pasta-salad\/\">caesar pasta salad<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/whatmollymade.com\/avocado-pasta-salad\/\">avocado pasta salad<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/whatmollymade.com\/summer-corn-salad\/\">summer corn salad<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/whatmollymade.com\/cucumber-tomato-avocado-salad\/\">cucumber tomato avocado salad<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can never go wrong with a<strong> green salad<\/strong>. Some of our favorites are <a href=\"https:\/\/whatmollymade.com\/roasted-sweet-potato-kale-salad\/\">sweet potato kale salad<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/whatmollymade.com\/shaved-brussel-sprout-salad\/\">brussels sprout salad<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/whatmollymade.com\/kale-salad-with-goat-cheese\/\">kale and goat cheese salad<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/whatmollymade.com\/strawberry-spinach-salad-with-healthy-poppyseed-dressing\/\">strawberry spinach salad<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Potatoes or sweet potatoes <\/strong>are always a crowd pleaser. Some ideas are <a href=\"https:\/\/whatmollymade.com\/rosemary-roasted-sweet-potatoes\/\">roasted sweet potatoes<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/whatmollymade.com\/pesto-roasted-potatoes\/\">pesto roasted potatoes<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/whatmollymade.com\/air-fryer-baked-potato\/\">air fryer baked potatoes<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Finally, one of our other favorites is just adding <strong>more veggies<\/strong>!
