I tested these with gf flour, too!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Baking powder +  baking soda<\/strong>: aluminum-free avoids that metallic aftertaste.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Shredded cheddar cheese<\/strong>: rich and flavorful, plus adds extra moisture and some protein.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ham (cooked, diced)<\/strong>: for a bit more protein and savory flavor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Chives<\/strong>: fresh flavor without overpowering, but you could omit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Avocado oil or melted coconut oil<\/strong>: the fat adds tenderness to the dough.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cottage cheese (blended smooth)<\/strong>: the moisture + protein helps keep biscuits lighter and adds protein. You can&rsquo;t taste the cottage cheese flavor!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Whole milk<\/strong>: adds a bit more dairy protein and helps the tops brown. Milk is high in quality protein, iodine, and B vitamins (all things I&rsquo;m looking for during this pregnancy!).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Honey<\/strong>: for just a hint of sweetness.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Topping: melted butter + honey<\/strong>: for flavor and glossy finish (highly recommend!).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bonus:<\/strong> this recipe has shredded cheddar, cottage cheese, and milk!
